I GRADUATED!

It happened. The most scary, exciting and amazing journey of doing my bachelors degree in England has come to an end. I can still remember the first day I came to England. It started with an overweight suitcase and tears streaming down my face as my dad dragged the suitcase across the airport, getting ready for me to go through security and make my way to England for the first time of my life. It was my first time going to England and it wasn’t just for a week-long holiday. It was for three years. I have never been so scared, excited and upset all at once in my whole life. I walked onto the plane, completely heartbroken yet incredibly nervous for this new and exciting chapter in my life.

Three years later, I’m still here in England. Yet now I’m a graduate. I went to my graduation ceremony and I’ve never been happier in any moment of my life. Not only did I graduate with a First Class degree in Marketing with Events Management, I had successfully scored a scholarship for my MSc degree in International Management from Loughborough University. The thing that truly mattered though was the fact that my parents where there with me. Cheering for me. More proud of me than ever. This was their first trip to England together (my mum visited me during my second year at university for a week though!) and it was amazing. I wanted it to be so special for my parents, the people that always believe in me and have made every single of my dreams a reality. I have never met such kind-hearted people in my life, completely selfless and so caring. This trip had to be perfect for them, because they are the most amazing people in the world.

My dad is a massive Sherlock Holmes fan. His lifelong dream has been to go to 221B Baker Street, Sherlock Holmes’ house and the most famous address in the world. My dad knows more about Sherlock Holmes than anyone else I have ever met, which I find incredibly impressive when he tells me stories about it. So that is where we went on the first day – to the heart of London to the most significant address in the world. Along with my dream coming true, on that day his did too. He wore the Sherlock Holmes hat and purchased the famous pipe. I’m not gonna lie, it was an awesome experience to walk through that small house knowing all of the stories my dad has told me about. I’ve now also binge watched every season of Sherlock Holmes and I’m obsessed.

My dad also wanted to go to the Nottingham Castle. It was a typical rainy day but we made the most of it. Unfortunately, there’s not actually that much of the castle left, it’s mainly ruins. It was still awesome to go to a place like that. Also, some Robin Hood stories are based there, how cool is that! We walked through all of the areas while my dad told us about all the stories that have happened in that castle. It was a magical day and also the last day of them being in England.

My mum has always wanted to stand on the steps of the original Selfridges. There was some film that was based there but I just can’t remember the name of it, sorry mum! The original store is in the heart of London and of course, we went there, as I wanted her dream to come true too. I’m so so happy we got to go somewhere she was looking forward to go to. Plus, the store was so beautiful.

Of course I also had to show my parents around my new university. We drove around the campus of Loughborough University and I was so happy that I could share this experience with them.

We also visited loads of shopping centres in Nottingham, Birmingham and Loughborough, which of course was awesome haha. I mean, who doesn’t like shopping, am I right?

The week that they were here went so quickly. Although I’m currently writing this post with tears in my eyes because I miss them more than anything in the world, I’m so happy their dreams could come true too. I’m also incredibly happy that they got to be part of my little life in England. I cannot wait to go home for Christmas and fill the house with more Christmas decorations than it is necessary.

I guess the point of this blog post is to remind you to support and love the people that support and love you. Appreciate the people around you and let them know you care about them.
